Description
Perioperative Nurses, also sometimes known as Operating Room Nurses care for patients before, during, and after surgery. Working in a variety of settings, including hospital surgical departments, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics, and offices, Perioperative Nurses prep patients for surgery, provide support and education to patients and families, facilitate pain management, and ensure patient safety and quality care. Entry into this field is available thorugh continuing education classes for existing Registered Nurses. As with all areas of nursing, demand is expected to be strong, because of the increasing aging population.
